Today I am going to focus on ‘if your boss is too moody’; is looking for another job a suitable option? There might be chances that you are responsible for instigating the crankiness, but if not, then these could be the reasons:

Reason no.1# He or she may be have some private personal issues which are reflecting at the workplace

In this you have room to make things better between you two by becoming a good listener of offering a help (if possible). Let him confide in you, this way you will not keep wondering about the weirdness of your boss’ behavior and will be able to empathize. 

Reason no.2# He might be experiencing intense pressure from higher management to reach targets

This too depends on organization to organization; any great organization will have a strategy and a team to hit the target. Grilling out one single person for targets does not imply any strategic planning. Even if there is pressure a meeting and discussion can lessen down the levels of anxiety. Your boss might not be confident about your work or he is getting insecure because you are an excellent performer and capable giving his a potential competition in future.

I’m In a Fix! What Should I Do?

Manager calls up sally to ask how far they have reached in the target (a recruitment firm). 

Shelly:  Sir I have no idea what is happening, but we are not able to do any hiring.

Manager: So how far have you reached in your target

Shelly: Sir it hasn’t even reached half of what we plan

Manager: What about the market situation, do you know why is it happening?

Before writing this article I made a point of conducting a little survey within my circle of friends who are working on different profiles and on different levels. It was done with the purpose of getting an in-depth detail of organizational behavior and what leads to lack of job satisfaction and what roles does bosses pays in formation of perception about the organization. When asked about the bosses, the maximum responses were “the boss himself doesn’t know what he wants” or “we give 4-5 samples just to makes sure he ends up liking something” this does nothing but increases the unnecessary amount of long working hours workload. This does not imply that the professionals working on the executive level has no idea of what they want. They very well know what they want and how the work should be executed. 

Then what creates chaos in the team? And what brings this level of frustration amongst employees? The answer is simple there is a significant communication gap; the manager is not able to communicate properly and that leads to the formation of above given responses. This, at times can be very frustrating for both the manager and the subordinate. This is due to the lack of strong management which ultimately leads to the high rate of retraction.
